PROGRAMS for mixed gender groups and for women

Carol offers retreats, workshops and community projects that enliven the inner work vital to the emotional and spiritual growth of young people and of engaged elders, so that they mature into all that they need of each other.  The work of calling forward and nourishing those elders is critical because the understanding of this lifestage and how much the world needs such elders, now more than ever, is just coming into the mainstream.   She sometimes works alone when the group is small, and has various skilled colleagues that she partners with.

Heroic Journeys and Life Stages of Elderhood - 2 hours
learning and sharing through council circles and oral history work
for circles of 6 to 20

Elderhood as a Life Stage of Calling, Passion and Purpose - 4 week series
introduces several powerful practices to release old patterns and regrets, understand the richness and gifts you have nourished and developed through the years of your living, and discover zest, purpose, and renewed passion and meaning in these elder years.  With bridge exercises to build support networks and deepen work in between classes
for circles of 6 to 12

Conscious Eldering:  Aging with Intention and Passion - weekend workshops
weaves together a powerful set of processes— including the Council process, life review work, exploration of legacy, ceremony and reflective time outdoors— to identify & release old patterns and identifications that no longer serve you and open to new clarity about your unique potential and calling in the elder third of your life

"I find myself asking big questions and feeling their challenge: How can so many people be so polarized and "stuck" when it is clear that the world is calling us to change?  How can I support people in moving past that?  How can I support change and create community?"  Shane Sater, 20

for circles of 6 to 15

Training of Guides and Leaders -  ~ 4 days before and after, and the full duration of the 7 to 10 day Cross-Generational Retreats
understanding and practicing this work of conscious elderhood and the linking of initiated generations that is connected with time on the land, threshold ceremony, and the witnessing of commitments and new life stages, and honoring and discovering one’s heroic journey
for 2 to 4 trainees

  • A community council circle - socially-distanced in the back yard during mild weather, by Zoom otherwise, until in-person circles are again safe indoors.
  • Urban Permaculture as a Counterpoint in These Times - local workshop/webinar offering via Zoom

"What I see are ordinary and some not-so-ordinary individuals willing to confront despair, power, and incalculable odds in an attempt to restore some semblance of grace, justice, and beauty to this world.... coherent, organic, self-organized congregations involving tens of millions of people dedicated to change. When asked ...if I am pessimistic or optimistic about the future, my answer is always the same: If you look at the science that describes what is happening on earth today and aren’t pessimistic, you don’t have the correct data. If you meet the people in this unnamed movement and aren’t optimistic, you haven’t got a heart.”
